In natural light, a bear-shaped bottle of honey lays on a table next to shallow bowls containing dried rose petals, thawed frozen raspberries and cloves. Scattered next to the bowls are small stalks of cinnamon and a few sprigs of fresh rosemary.

Arnold Booch Palmer Kombucha

An Arnold Palmer is a personal favorite, a reliably refreshing mixture of lemonade and iced tea. The drink is coined after legendary golfer Arnold Palmer, who was the first person to earn $1 million playing golf.

Arnold Booch Palmer Kombucha tees up an equally refreshing kombucha. Bring a bottle on the greens and uncork anytime – who’s going to stop you?

Remember, a little bit of lemon juice goes a long way in kombucha. Too much, and the brew gets sour. The natural strawberry syrup created from thawed frozen fruit gives the magic touch to add a more robust, sweet flavor to your kombucha.

  • Lemon – juice (1 tsp)
  • Fresh ginger – a dime to penny-sized slice (1 tbsp)
  • Honey – local honey, squirt (1 tsp)
  • Strawberry – juice of frozen, thawed strawberries (1 tsp)
  • Black Tea – one bag

Place the entire tea bag into the bottle during the flavoring process.

Remove the tea bag when ready to drink, post-fridge.

Local honey, dried elderberries, candied ginger, anise are shown on a mantle featuring natural druzy quartz in stone.

Immunity Boost Kombucha

Make an immunity-boosting kombucha, and your future self will thank you! I am a big proponent of the regular consumption of elderberry syrup to improve immunity. Elderberries are full of vitamin C and are a good source of antioxidants. You can even make one kombucha bottle of this during your regular flavor process.

Simply throw a few dried berries into your kombucha bottle during the flavoring process. Be sure to add a little sweet support from ginger and honey to aid in the fermentation process. Personalize this with a clove, candied ginger (as shown in the photo), anise, lemon juice …let your imagination run wild!

  • Elderberry – dried berries (6)
  • Fresh ginger – a dime to penny-sized slice (1 tbsp)
  • Local honey (1 squirt)

You may want to skim this one before drinking – the elderberries aren’t the tastiest to eat ????

Interested in learning more about elderberries? Make sure you’ve looked at my DIY elderberry syrup recipe.

Just like kombucha: When you make elderberry syrup at home, you can really customize it to your tastes. For example, sometimes, I omit the cinnamon and add rosehips, lavender, dried lemon balm, or lemon verbena from my garden ????

Blood Oranges, Honey, Pomegranate

Blood Bursts and Honey Kombucha

In southern Wisconsin, fresh pomegranates arrive at grocery stores and co-ops in late fall to early winter. Pomegranates are high in antioxidants and help promote heart health.

In Greek mythology, they are known as the ‘fruit of the dead’ and are often featured in the myth of Hades and Persephone. Hades, God of the underworld, used pomegranate seeds to trick Persephone into returning to the underworld for a few months of every year.

Blood oranges arrive in early to mid-February. The combination of the two cannot be beaten. Blood oranges and pomegranates both are well-known for their magical properties, considering Persephone, the Greek Goddess. I like to slice sections into small triangles for my bottle. When I drink this recipe, the blood oranges retain a fizzy burst, right along with the pom seeds. That combination is so special and delicious. I hope you enjoy it, too.

Blood Bursts and Honey Kombucha gives drinkers a light, special kombucha when the season strikes just right.

  • Fresh pomegranate seeds – about 6 seeds (1 tbsp)
  • Blood orange – 2 sections of freshly peeled blood orange, sliced to bottle size (1 tbsp)
  • Local honey (1 squirt)

thawed dark red cherries, orange segments and local honey

Capricorn Sea Goat Kombucha

Capricorn Season is December 22 – January 19 and oranges are a perfect fruit for this driven, yet cautious and loyal Earth sign.

Thawed frozen cherries add a deeper flavor that combines well with the citrus leader. A little squirt of honey finishes off your bottle’s flavor. You may find that orange sections ferment well and hold a special fizz that’s satisfying to eat right out of the bottom of the bottle.

  • Fresh navel orange – peeled (3 sections cut into bottle-size pieces)
  • Dark Cherries – frozen, thawed (1 tbsp)
  • Local honey (1 squirt)
