Pisces Pour Kombucha

Pisces Season is February 19-March 20. As a water sign, the twin fish born during this period have a keen ability to express their creativity and artistic ability like no one else.  Pisces, the last sign of the astrological new year, are ruled by Neptune, which governs ingenuity and dreams.

Boundless imagination come together in Pisces Pour for a sweet and not-at-all-basic kombucha. Consider the Pisces in your own life and reflect upon the beauty they bring to the world while effortlessly adapting to their surroundings when brewing this recipe.

Fresh, frozen, or even dehydrated peaches give kombucha a sensual and sweet flavor. Introduce a little fresh, frozen, dehydrated pineapple, or even a splash of pineapple juice, and this brew will strike a chord during the intuitive Pisces season.

  • Peach – thawed frozen, fresh (2 tbsp)
  • Pineapple – fresh, frozen, or juice (juice is shown) (1 tbsp)
  • Fresh ginger – a dime to penny-sized slice (1 tbsp)
  • Lemon verbena – one dried (or fresh) leaf

Love Potion Kombucha

My Love Potion Kombucha recipe uses items from the heart to provide a super-special touch to homemade kombucha. Gathering a rich taste from juicy, dark red cherries, homebrewers can make this potion with ingredients dedicated explicitly to love, affection, romance ❤

A small bag of culinary rose petals is terrific for making a perky tea or liven-up baked goods. A staple in my pantry, I like to use a few rose petals in kombucha when I want a delicate, slightly sweet, earthy taste.

Dried hibiscus petals are robust and offer a tangy, nearly sour addition to kombucha. And a crushed, dried rosehip ties it all together with its sweet and tart taste.

  • Dried, culinary rose petals (1 tsp)
  • Dark red cherries – frozen, thawed (2 tbsp)
  • Hibiscus – dried culinary petals (3 petals)
  • Rosehip – Dried, crushed to release the good stuff (1)

Make this love potion kombucha with special intentions focused on the true love in your life, and listen to your heart. Enjoy each sip with thoughtful gratitude and appreciation for the love language you have created ❤‍

Blood Oranges, Honey, Pomegranate

Blood Bursts and Honey Kombucha

In southern Wisconsin, fresh pomegranates arrive at grocery stores and co-ops in late fall to early winter. Pomegranates are high in antioxidants and help promote heart health.

In Greek mythology, they are known as the ‘fruit of the dead’ and are often featured in the myth of Hades and Persephone. Hades, God of the underworld, used pomegranate seeds to trick Persephone into returning to the underworld for a few months of every year.

Blood oranges arrive in early to mid-February. The combination of the two cannot be beaten. Blood oranges and pomegranates both are well-known for their magical properties, considering Persephone, the Greek Goddess. I like to slice sections into small triangles for my bottle. When I drink this recipe, the blood oranges retain a fizzy burst, right along with the pom seeds. That combination is so special and delicious. I hope you enjoy it, too.

Blood Bursts and Honey Kombucha gives drinkers a light, special kombucha when the season strikes just right.

  • Fresh pomegranate seeds – about 6 seeds (1 tbsp)
  • Blood orange – 2 sections of freshly peeled blood orange, sliced to bottle size (1 tbsp)
  • Local honey (1 squirt)

Be sure to visit my previous blog post and Pom Pom Recipe that demonstrates pomegranate seed removal ❤

a handwritten recipe for Aquarius Margarita Kombucha

Aquarius Margarita Kombucha

Aquarius Season runs from January 20-February 18. People born under this sign have free-spirited tendencies. And Aquarians really love tart flavors, especially lemons and limes.

In honor of Aquarians everywhere, the Aquarius Margarita Kombucha is a juicy, tart, and unique kombucha. Juice from fresh citrus is important to help kombucha ferment and flavor well. Adding oranges can contribute to better insight, which is helpful one month into a new year ????

  • Fresh lemon- juice from one fresh lemon (1 tbsp)
  • Fresh lime – juice from one fresh lime (1 tbsp)
  • Fresh orange – OPTIONAL – juice from ½ fresh orange
  • Pink Himalayan salt- OPTIONAL – the teensiest dash of pink salt rounds out this margarita booch.
  • Agave syrup – OPTIONAL – one squirt

Like a pineapple, strawberry, or mango margarita? Add a little of these frozen fruits (1 tbsp or less) for an extra pizzaz.

Feeling like a sassy witch?! Throw in a shot of tequila when you pour this special treat. Happy Aquarius season, you beautiful, original, progressive Air sign, you!

Raspberries, mango and ginger

Venus Mango Kombucha

If you like the naturally sweet taste of raspberries, you will enjoy raspberry-flavored kombucha. In the winter (and year-round, really ????), I rely on frozen fruit to flavor my kombucha.

When thawed, frozen raspberries produce a magical, juicy mix of berry pulp. The concoction is perfect for kombucha. Both raspberry and mango, as featured in Venus Mango Kombucha, are readily available in your local co-op or grocer’s frozen section.

In astrology, the planet Venus rules all things love, romance and courtship in a person’s life. Where the planet was positioned at your time of birth determines some of these indulgent traits. Raspberry is ruled by the planet Venus, giving honor to this delicious, refreshing brew and love, beauty, pleasure… things like that ❤

Enjoy my Venus Mango recipe, which is nearly guaranteed to give you a dramatic fizzy opening. Small sips are known to help alleviate minor headaches and even hangovers!

  • Mango – thawed, frozen mango (1+ tbsp)
  • Raspberry – thawed, frozen raspberries (1 tbsp)
  • Ginger – fresh, one dime to nickel slices per bottle (powdered or crystalized ginger may be substituted)

To prepare the fruit, I typically fill a small glass jar with the amount of frozen fruit I need the evening before I flavor kombucha. Most fruit will thaw in 6-8 hours.

watermelon, blueberries and lemongrass

Moon Berry Kombucha

Watermelon, a luscious fruit, is ruled by the Moon. This brew is the ultimate in mid-winter when fresh fruit is scarce.

Remember the humid days of the summer, picking up a fresh watermelon from a neighborhood stand? Slicing into a juicy watermelon feels like sunshine! Pick up a small segment at the store to beat the winter blues, and dehydrate any leftovers.

Frozen, thawed blueberries are a hero to dehydrated leftover watermelon, giving a juicy amp to this recipe. Lemongrass adds a sophisticated layer; use fresh or dried. Are you overwintering lemongrass? Give your plants a clean-cut and put a few strands in your jar for a fresh, zingy addition you’ll appreciate.

  • Watermelon –  fresh, or dehydrated leftovers from a juicy summer farmer’s market purchase (1 tbsp)
  • Lemongrass – dried or fresh strands cut from overwintering lemongrass (2-3 strands)
  • Blueberry – thawed, frozen blueberries (from any retail store, market) (2+ tbsp)

Don’t have lemongrass? No prob – substitute a little squirt of lemon juice.

thawed dark red cherries, orange segments and local honey

Capricorn Sea Goat Kombucha

Capricorn Season is December 22 – January 19 and oranges are a perfect fruit for this driven, yet cautious and loyal Earth sign.

Thawed frozen cherries add a deeper flavor that combines well with the citrus leader. A little squirt of honey finishes off your bottle’s flavor. You may find that orange sections ferment well and hold a special fizz that’s satisfying to eat right out of the bottom of the bottle.

  • Fresh navel orange – peeled (3 sections cut into bottle-size pieces)
  • Dark Cherries – frozen, thawed (1 tbsp)
  • Local honey (1 squirt)
